America: Victim of domestic abuse
This is the beginning of a topic I have wanted to research and post but haven't had the chance. I still don't have much on this yet but because of a personal incident I feel the need to at least get it rolling.
The situation in America, especially in light of the work of George Lakoff discussing our politics from the perspective of "nation as family" and modeling the duopoly in terms of the "conservative father" and "nurturant parent," is that America is suffering from domestic abuse.
The peope are treated like abused spouses and beaten and molested children by politicians that are both cruel and amoral. That was never the purpose of our government when you actually understand what the forefathers wrote in the Preamble of the Constitution.
As a result of the failure of those elected to public office to uphold and fulfill the duties in the Preamble, the people are suffering. Most of them suffering lives of quiet desperation which takes its toll in their personal health. For others, it manifests in domestic and social violence. In all cases, mental health is critically fragile and too many are living only an incident away from a complete breakdown. This must stop.
The domestic abuse of the American people by those elected to represent them is inexcusable. This year, this election, it is time to put an end to that abuse.
