This building, the Sho-Hondo, was demolished in 1998 because of a huge rift between the new high priest at the time and the president of the lay organization. The building was absolutely iconic. It was very beautiful and embodied the hopes and dreams of millions of members to achieve world peace through the practice of Buddhism. Without this building at the head temple, it is not the same.

I personally think that the rift is the tear in the fabric of our world. I'm not sure it can ever be repaired.
