Flipping Channels
I experienced an interesting juxtaposition flipping channels tonight. Somehow Fox News was on and Bill O'Really was talking about Alito's confirmation and blabbing about strict originalism vs populist securlism in interpreting the Constitution. I had to barf and flipped over to Jon Stewart's rebroadcast of last night's episode.
The first bit I had missed and liked what it. But then they went into the Helm's segment and lost interest.
So, looking at my trusty online tv guide, I decided that PBS's "Nova" talking about Roman bath technology was more interesting. It was.
What I find odd about these juxtapositions is how someone like O'Really can even be on TV and Fox News should be forced to call itself Fox Entertainment if not the Fox Brainwashing Network.
Even Jon Stewart couldn't help a massive PMS (actually it's the second day so there's no "pre" about it, but anyway) headache. Even so, it's still just entertainment.
I found the Nova segment on roman baths to have grounding in reality, history, and an effort to be informative. In other words, it had something to do with the real world and how people lived and dealt with it.
Then I think of Bill O'Really and the world he occupies, as well as helps to shape, and I wonder just how much longer sane people are going to have to put up with it.
